NaturOli Soap Nuts Review and Giveaway

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED

Have you been searching for a truly all natural laundry detergent and cleanser? What could be more natural then using soap nuts? Soap nuts are actually not a "nut" at all. They are a fruit that grows on the Sapindus Mukorossi tree that is native to Northern India and Nepal. The fruit is dried thus giving it a hard shell, making it similar in appearance to a nut.

How do they work? The soap nut "shell" contains and releases the saponins (soap) when it comes in contact with warm or hot water. For the soap nuts to release the soap only heat and agitation are required. The saponins then circulate as a natural surfactant. They are low sudsing and great for front loading, HE washers and carpet cleaners. *Note: Suds do not equal cleaning power. Suds actually indicate commercial chemical additives.*

How to wash using Soap Nuts:
  • NaturOli Soap Nuts come with a small muslin bag. In this bag you will add 4-5 nuts. Tie bag securely. *You may want to poke a few small holes in your bag for even greater cleaning results.*
  • Toss bag in washing machine machine before adding clothes.
  • Remove from washer at the end of the wash to dry (leave nuts in bag).
For cold water washes:
  • Soak your 4-5 nuts in muslin bag in a cup of hot water for 3 minutes.
  • Pour water & bag in wash.
  • Soap nuts may be re-used 3 to 7 times. You will know when your soap nuts have run their course when they become soft, mushy, light tan or gray in color and become thin.

Laundry Tips:
  • For hard water: use 5-6 soap nuts instead of the usual 4-5. Adding white vinegar to the wash water will assist in the cleaning power.
  • No need for fabric softener. Soap nuts soften your clothes naturally!
  • Soap nuts have a light vinegar-like smell when dry and a stronger smell when wet, but amazingly your laundry will smell completely clean & fresh. They leave no scent whatsoever.
  • If you prefer a scent, you can add approximately 10 drops of your favorite essential oil on the cotton bag before tossing into the machine, or on a cloth in the dryer.
  • Soap nuts do not remove heavy or very greasy stains. As with any detergent, pre-treat tough stains with a stain remover.
  • If you like super whites, you can add oxygen bleach to the load.
  • Most importantly-Make sure you have adequate water flow in your washer! Over loading your machine will cause less agitation of the clothes, therefore lessening the cleaning power. That goes for any detergent. Proper agitation is a must for proper cleaning to occur no matter what!
More reasons you'll love NaturOli soap nuts:
  • Soap nuts are so gentle, you can use them on your fine, delicate fabrics and silks.
  • Hypoallergenic and fragrance free
  • Free of synthetic chemicals, fillers, toxins, dyes and perfumes
  • Imported only from Fair Trade, CO-op suppliers
  • NaturOli soap nuts are inspected and hand-sorted in the USA
Soap nuts put to the test:
I gave my soap nuts a thorough testing. It took a bit of troubleshooting to achieve optimal results but in the end I was quite pleased with their performance on my laundry.
  1. I tested them on a load of my husbands dirty, smelly work clothes. No odor left and everything was clean.
  2. I tested them on my towels. They came out soft and odor free.
  3. I tested them on a small load of horrible smelling dirty dish rags. Again clean and no odor!
Soap nuts are very intriguing to me. They have many uses besides laundry and I am learning more about them. Isn't it about time to start cleaning our laundry and homes with something God created for us to use?!?! Want to learn more? Click here.
