My experience with Nifty Nappys:

I was sent a OS Nifty Nappy fitted diaper (in forest friends print), OS Woolie Wrap and a Lay In Insert to test out for review. You can tell great care goes into making these diapers/wraps. Such wonderful craftsmanship and made with the very best fabrics!

I must admit this was my first experience with fitted diapers and wool and I was not so sure how I would like either. I have been skeptical of the things I have heard about wool.

I have heard that you only have to wash the wool cover about once a month (unless pooped in) and that you just leave it out to dry and it will not stink. Come on? Really?

Sounds to good to be true right? I thought so too!

I first tried out the whole diaper combination on my son over night. He really put these to the test because that particular night he slept from 8p.m. until almost 10a.m!!! I thought for sure I would have a sopping wet baby when I went to get him out of bed. He was dry! I was amazed. When I went to change him his woolie wrap felt a tad bit damp to the touch but not wet. When I took off the fitted diaper with insert, they were soaked! The wool truly did do the trick.

But...
The Woolie Wrap smelled badly of urine. I thought to myself, "sure.. just dry it out."
I was tempted to wash it, but was too curious to see what it would do. I hung it up to dry and a few hours later went to check on it.
Giving it a thorough sniffing..I detected NO odor! Not just no odor but it actually had a clean smell to it!!

I am glad to be wrong about wool and am so happy I gave it a try. I am loving this duo for nighttime.


How Does The Wool Not Smell?

The lanoline in the wool reacts with the urine and changes it into salt water. This way when it dries it dries clean with a little salt reside. The salt build-up is why you have to wash it. Once it gets overloaded with salt the reaction doesn't work anymore. You usually only have to wash it once a month depending on how often it is used. Want to learn more? Click here.
