Pray for Baby "J"

I wanted to ask you all to be praying for my baby. He has been throwing up after every feeding for the past 2 days. He been spitting up slowly over the past 1 1/2 weeks and in the past week has had an actual projectile vomit every other day. Now it is at every feeding and he cannot keep anything down. He is only nursing for about 4-5 minutes on one side and then gets sick.

I took him in to see a nurse practitioner on Wednesday and she said that she thought he has reflux. But...at that point he was only vomiting twice a day. I do not think it is reflux and think it is something more serious. He is starting to get dehydrated and is only having a slight wet diaper every 4 hours and no poop.

We are taking him to see his pediatrician this afternoon and I hope to get some answers. This has been VERY scary, stressful, and tiresome. Please pray my baby is well again soon and that the doctor finds out what is going on TODAY.

I looked online and did a little research and I believe he may have what is called "Pyloric Stenosis". It is when the valve that is connected to the stomach swells and the baby's stomach cannot drain. It causes projectile vomiting after every feed and requires surgery to open the valve. He has every symptom of it, so I cannot imagine it being anything else.

I will keep you all posted on what is going on...In the meantime lift baby "J" up to our Heavenly Father in prayer.

Please be patient with me as well...seems everytime I host an event catastrophe strikes. I may not get a new review and giveaway up for a few days if this is something that will require my baby to have surgery or be hospitalised. I am sure you all understand though, you have all been very patient with me.

Good luck, Beth! This must be extremely difficult to have to go through - I really hope they find out what is going on with little J and can *fix* it.

(And I'm completely disgusted that someone would post spam on this thread, of all places! How self-centered and callous can one human be?)

I am praying for your little baby! I can't imagine what you are going through at all! That's so horrible. It makes me tear up just thinking about the little baby being sick or hurt. Let us know how it goes.

Praying for you and the little guy. My middle child had very similar issues and she was spitting up and vomiting a whole whole lot beginning at 2 weeks. Doc thought reflux, but the meds did nothing to help. I ended up researching and eliminated dairy from my diet, and she improved considerably. She eventually outgrew her milk sensitivity.

I hope it ends up being something that's easy to fix for his sake and yours.

It does sound like Pyloric stenosis to me! Typically it starts around 4 to 6 weeks. If it is, I wouldn't be surprised if they even did surgery today. I'm hoping that is what they did since you haven't updated us yet.

I know someone that both her boys had this when they were several weeks old. It is more common in boys.

You got it dear. My DD had GERD (reflux basically) that caused her to do the same thing. Was an awful time while they took their time to figure it out.

Saying a prayer that it does turn out to be something easily taken care of like GERD and Pyloric Stenosis or something like it that would require surgery.

I'm so sorry. I stumbled upon your blog today and just wanted to let you know that we went through the same thing with my little one who is now a year old. She was hospitalized a few days after birth with projectile vomiting and it took us months to find out that she simply had severe food allergies to gluten, dairy, and nuts. Even though she wasn't eating those foods, I was (she was BF). Once I eliminated all of the allergens from my diet, she was 100% better. I'll pray you find out the source soon!
