I am new to baby wearing. This may seem surprising as I am a mother of four! It's not to say I have never tried. In the past I have tried out several baby carriers, but they were cheap ones that offered no support to my back and shoulders. I have scoliosis and had surgery for it when I was thirteen. My back hurts when I carry too much weight. The cheap carriers I tried always gave me back pain. They pulled on my neck and shoulders and made baby wearing an unpleasant experience for me. I pretty much gave up on it and assumed that it could not be for me.

A few years ago I read a wonderful review about the ERGO baby carrier in Above Rubies magazine. Later when my husband & I first started attending our church, I noticed almost all the moms with babies had an ERGO. My toxicity rating for the Huggies lotion I use on myself and my daughter was a 6! I couldn't believe the METHYLPARABEN ingredient--it is linked to all sorts of bad stuff! Earth Mama Angel Baby products definitely have a much lower toxicity!

Every parent likes to have their new baby close by especially at night. We all are guilty of putting our newborn in bed with us. Let's face it, it is hard not to. But is having your baby in bed with two sleeping adults really safe? The answer is NO.

I cannot even begin to express how much I have come to appreciate my Snuggle Nest. I am not usually one that willingly puts my baby to sleep in bed with me. The reason for this is because I lay awake at night worried my husband will roll over on our baby. He is a deep sleeper. However, there are times when the baby will not sleep or is fussy and having him near us is the only way he will rest.

Christmas Morning

On Christmas morning our two oldest children woke up bright and early around 5:30 am. This of course was WAY too early for me. I was up twice with baby "J" that night and so told the kids they needed to wait until 7 am (I know, I'm a meany). At 7am they barged in my room and told me to wake up. I dragged myself out of bed and my husband got the baby. We even had to wake up baby "E" as he would have most likely slept until 9 or 10.

New Christmas Pajamas

It is a tradition at our house to give our children a new pair of pajamas each Christmas Eve night.
They are always excited to open up their "soft" present to see what kind of jammies they got. It is a lot of fun. This year I even threw in slippers to match my two older children's pajamas.

After putting on their new pajamas, we always take a picture and then load up in the van with some hot chocolate and drive around town to look at lights.

Our Experience:

We were sent a Real Nappies newborn intro. pack for review. I love that these diapers and covers come in a size small enough to fit a tiny newborn. Not all cloth diapers fit well on new babies, but the Real Nappies diaper was a perfect fit.

This was one of the first cloth diapers I used on baby "J". The Real Nappies diaper cover has velcro closures, enabaling you to get the right fit. At first baby "J" had to have the velcros close together and now at almost 2 months of age the velcro closures are farther apart but the diaper still fits him well.

We have had great success with our Real Nappies diaper. Baby "J" has not had leaks, even overnight. Overall I am impressed by this diaper.

One Size Cloth Diaper Event

It was announced today on Take Time To Smell The Rose blog, that she will be hosting a one-size cloth diaper event starting January 1st! 22 One-Size cloth diapers will be featured and given away. We have done this every year for 3 years and it has come to be somewhat of a tradition now. This year our cookie bake was held at our house. We enjoyed a pizza lunch together and then spent the whole day working on cookies. We made the traditional frosted sugar cookies as well as trees, wreaths, and snowflakes in the cookie press. The kids had a blast.
