Joy's of Homemaking- Deals to Meals Review and Giveaway!

*THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED*

Awhile back I wrote a short post about an awesome online service I found called Deals to Meals. For those of you that missed my post you can read it here.

Deals to Meals is a online service put together by a mom to help your family save a ton of money on your grocery budget each month. Deals to Meals is available in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

How it works:
-- They compare prices of the major grocery stores to Costco, Sams Club, and Walmart
-- They tell you where the best deals are to stock up your food storage and freezer
-- They provide a meal planning service to help you incorporate your food storage into your weekly meals, saving you money by having your meals planned around sale items
-- They design a weekly grocery list to make meal planning easy
-- They share delicious recipes
-- They give weekly tips & information on food storage
-- They offer a two week free trial with no obligation, no contracts to sign, cancel at anytime.

With Deals to Meals your family will not only save on your groceries but also will be building a stock pile of foods in case of an emergency or natural disaster. Deals to Meals will teach you how to stock pile and how to utilize your food storage so no food goes bad, but is always being replenished.

I love how easy it is to use Deals to Meals. All the recipes I have tried so far have been wonderful. Best of all, if I am short on time and don't have the energy to plan out a weeks worth of meals... I can have my menu all planned out and ready for me, complete with recipes! This is a HUGE time saver for us busy moms.

How Deals to Meals Got Started:
(from their site)

FAMILY, FOOD, & FOOD STORAGE are my biggest passions in life! And that I guess is how this whole thing started! Two years ago I was asked to teach a class on food storage and how to save money at the grocery store. From that class I began emailing some friends with the great deals each week, along with the items they should add to their food storage.
Friends then started asking for help to know what to make for dinner, knowing my love for food. Cooking is a way to show my creativity and trying delicious, new recipes is a favorite past time of mine. So, I began taking my favorite recipes and creating weekly meal planners to help people know what to make for dinner based around the best sale items that week. I sent the weekly emails to friends and others for over 9 months free of charge, until I realized this was becoming bigger than I had ever imagined. My life was no longer the same--I had to either quit emailing the weekly deals or I needed to be compensated for my time and efforts.
A couple months later we had the launch of My Food Storage Deals and here we are today, now Deals to Meals. I feel very blessed to be able to have a part time job that I LOVE and that I can do from home. I also enjoy seeing people get excited about becoming prepared.
I love to teach people a NEW and simpler way to getting your storage and being prepared. We make it EASY & FUN and help take the overwhelming feeling OUT of getting your year supply. Our motto is ‘Your year supply, one week at a time”. If you stock up a little each week, you will eventually have every item you need in your own ‘grocery store’ in your basement (or storage).
Living this way is not only economical, but gives you peace of mind and the satisfaction of knowing you are preparing your family for whatever is to come. Our hope is that I am able to help families save money, obtain their food storage, and give them more time to do the things they really love!

Deals to Meals also has an awesome blog full of wonderful money saving tips, recipes, and food storage ideas! I highly recommend reading the posts there as you will learn so much.

Honestly I don't think I learned anything new about food storage but I am very interested in trying this site to see if we could eat as healthy as we eat now and save money.

Food Storage:
The interesting thing I read there that caught my attention was the THREE WEEKS of water we ought to have on hand for each family member. That could end up being quite a bit to have on hand if one has a LARGE family. Thankfully we have only four people but still I have been collecting the $0.99 gallons in my gurage as they are easy to grab and pretty easy to store in our "gurage" (no room for a car even if we squeezed *smile*). And the rolling suitcases for children stored under their beds, wouldn't it make sence to keep everyones things together? Just a thought. *smile* Sincerely, Mommy of two little blessings & so much more!

My husband and I are just starting our food storage. I was suprised when I started reading how long certain food items actually last. I'm going to have to re-wire my brain for some of that. :) But I love meals to deals, it's really helping us get started.

I learned that you should have a two week water supply for everyone in your family. One way to do that is to put water in two liter bottles.
