My Experience:

I recently had the opportunity to work with this great cloth diaper shop and was sent one of their Kissaluvs Marvels one-size fitted diapers and covers for review. I am new to using fitted diapers as this was only the second fitted that I have tried. I am beginning to love the idea of the fitted diaper. Fitted diapers are nice in comparison to pre-folds and flats as they do not bunch up in the diaper cover. They are very nice paired with wool longies for night time and I love that they offer a wider selection of prints since fitteds can be made with cotton fabrics not just PUL fabrics.

The Kissaluvs Marvels one-size diaper has a 100% cotton outer layer, a super soft bamboo inner layer and is also made from 18% recycled polyester. The inner layer is so soft and silky, it must feel very nice against my babies skin.

This diaper contains snaps that go across babies belly. The design of the diaper allows rise to fold over to fit from 10- 40 pounds. I like this feature and am able to achieve a great fit on my skinny toddler. The Kissaluvs Marvels fitted also has added side snaps to help ensure you do not encounter wing droop! This is a MUST for anyone who has an active baby or toddler.

I am well pleased with the Kissaluvs Marvels fitted diaper. Besides being the most adorbale diaper in my stash, it also functions wonderfully. We have not experienced leaks with this diaper nor have we experienced any blow outs. The leg elestic on this diaper creates ruffles that contain messes.

The Kissaluvs Marvels one-size diaper cover was also nice to try. This cover is soft and thin but yet works perfectly. I love the one-size option. Who doesn't appriciate a cover that can be used from birth to toddler years? I also love that this cover has leg gussets. This is such an important feature for any diaper cover.

More features you will love:
  • Sewn from a highly durable and water-resistant PUL.
  • Fashionably matching trim and snaps give a polished look to the cover.
  • Fits babies from 8 to 40 lbs.
  • Gussets contain a gentle elastic; not the foldover elastic found on many cloth diaper covers.
  • Cross-over waist snaps adjust for a perfect fit for both chubby and skinny babies.
  • Lifetime guarantee on snaps; no frustrating velcro tabs.
  • Designed to be easy to use by parents, grandparents and caregivers.
  • Available in 5 colors, Kissaluvs come in white, sky blue, butter, kelly green and chocolate

BUY IT- Buy Kissaluvs Diapers and other great cloth diaper brands at Diaper Junctions online shop at www.DiaperJunction.com.

WIN IT- Diaper Junction is giving one Happily Domestic reader a Kissaluvs Marvel one-size fitted diaper in their choice of print AND a Kissaluvs Marvels one-size diaper cover in their choice of color!! This is a $42.00 value.

Our GlassesUSA Experience:

Sometimes in life things happen at just the right time you need them. It was ironic that within a week of my husband's eyeglasses breaking, I was asked by GlassesUSA to review their glasses. What timing! My husband and I were thrilled.

My husband has worn glasses since he was a young boy. He is one of those people that without the option of extra thin lenses would have the pop bottle look. His prescription is strong to say the least. He choose the Men's Regean style prescription glasses with extra thin lenses. At first he was a bit hesitant about choosing the right size frames for his face online, but GlassesUSA made it simple by giving us some great tips.

They told us that when choosing eyeglass frames to look on the side of the frames we like- and look for numbers. The numbers will look like 46-21-150 and they stand for 46mm lens width - 21mm bridge width - 150mm temple length. My husband found a style he liked, went to their site's advanced search and plugged in the numbers. From there, he found similar styles. It was so simple!

My husbands eyeglasses arrived promptly and fit perfectly! We were both impressed with the quality of the eyeglasses. They arrived well packaged and came with their own hard case and cleansing cloth. We were pleased with the service we received from GlassesUSA.

With GlassesUSA you cannot go wrong. They back up every pair of eye glasses they sell with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If you do not love your new eyeglasses, they will allow you to exchange them or refund your money.

GlassesUSA does not sell their returned eyeglasses as most optical stores do, they "recycle" them! What does this mean? Well, they believe that everyone should have access to vision care. So, they donate all of their returned eyeglasses to various organizations around the US who then sanitize and redistribute the eyeglasses with the correct prescription to people all over the world who can't afford vision care! So awesome!

I highly recommend GlassesUSA and think that you will be pleased as well. Besides buying from a great company that backs up their product, you will be saving a ton of money on your eyeglasses and will have a large selection of fashionable eye glass frames to choose from.

BUY SOME- Shop GlassesUSA.com and enter coupon code MOMMY5 and receive 5% off your final order.

WIN SOME- GlassesUSA.com is giving one Happily Domestic reader a free pair of single vision (distance OR reading correction) eyeglasses in your choice of frame style.

How The Cloth Diaper Foundation Began (from their site)

The Cloth Diaper Foundation was founded as Miracle Diapers in Oregon in January of 2005 to fill a need. There were many families who wanted to cloth diaper their children for health, economical, and environmental reasons but could not due to financial restrictions. After an overwhelming response, two more chapters were opened by the end of that year. With the same great goals in mind, our fifth anniversary as cloth diapering charity brought about a complete overhaul and makeover of the Foundation from management to practices all to better serve our recipients and the cloth diapering community nationwide. Everyone here at the Cloth Diaper Foundation looks forward to a brighter future for our charity and continuing to assist those in need with getting a jump start on cloth diapering.

Our goal is to someday have representatives all over the United States. Through this we hope to not only be able to serve thousands of families in need, but to be able to educate the public on today’s cloth diapers and therefore helping cloth become more mainstream.

There are many ways we can help support this awesome cloth diaper organization and help families in our country cloth diaper their babies. Let's do our part!

Your Fluff Talk Thurday Assignment For Today:
Write your thoughts and feelings on The Cloth Diaper Foundation. Have you helped or been helped by them? What is your experience?

*You may also link up any cloth diaper or cloth diaper related giveaways that you may have or know about.*

Trying to find the balance in life

Today I had a particularly stressful day. Nothing "bad" in particular happened, it was just one of those appointment filled, too much to do, and feeling tired on top it all kind of days. I am finding myself feeling more and more behind on all that needs to be done and do not like the feeling one bit.

I am my worst critic. I don't expect myself to be super mom and have everything perfect all the time but feel somewhat like a failure when I can't seem to keep my house clean ever or when I feel as though I have worked hard all day and accomplished nothing. Do any of you feel this way?

I am only one person and can only do so much. Though I would like to think I can be stretched in 90 different directions, I know this is not reality. Sometimes what we think we can do and what we really can do are two different things. I often time take on too much.

Sometimes in life we have to sit down and prioritize to save our sanity. After my two week trip to Washington I realized how much I have been missing out on my family. Yes, I know I home school and am with my children almost 24 hours a day, but I am also very busy most of the time. Having 4 children and homeschooling is a lot of work. It takes setting aside special time to have that one on one time my children need. If I don't do this we all get caught up in the regular daily tasks and miss out on sharing our lives together.

Realizing that I haven't been making the efforts I need to in order to build relationship with my children, my husband, and most importantly my God and Saviour and realizing my priorities have been somewhat upside down, I have asked my husband to put a password on our computer. This way I can only go on when my husband is home. This helps so much because I tend to not get on the computer until my children are in bed when we have it set up this way.

I need to be focusing on my family throughout the day. My job as Mama takes top priority and I do not need anything distracting me from it. I am not writing this to say I am giving up on my blog or anything but rather that I am trying to find the balance between wants and needs and trying to prioritize what I have time for each day.

In saying this, I wanted you all to know in case you were wondering why I have not been blogging as much or why I haven't been visiting as many of your blogs. I just can't do it all. I still plan to blog about my Washington trip and share my pictures from it. As far as my Project 365 goes...I am going to let that go. It seemed like such a fun idea in the beginning but the reality is that I do not have time to blog every single day and I don't need one more thing to make me feel behind or pressured. It's not as easy to remember to take a picture everyday after all.

I hope that you all can understand where I am coming from. I love blogging, it is a blast and I want to continue it but as with anything else we do for "fun" we need balance and must set limits as to how much time we dedicate to things that pull us away from what is truly important. I hope that you all continue to visit my blog, enter my giveaways, leave comments and all that good stuff. I am still here, just on a lesser scale.

NaturOli Extreme 18 Liquid Soap Nuts Review and Giveaway

*THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED*

A few months ago I introduced you all to NaturOli soap nuts. Read my full review here. Soap Nuts are a fruit that grows on the Sapindus Mukorossi tree that is native to Northern India and Nepal. The fruit is dried thus giving it a hard shell, making it similar in appearance to a nut. The soap nut contains saponins (soap) and is the most natural cleaner you will ever discover. It is biodegradable, low sudsing, hypo-allergenic and contains a natural fabric softener.

Now you can have the same great cleansing power you have come to appreciate in soap nuts in a super concentrated liquid! With NaturOli's Extreme 18 liquid you will be able to clean 96 loads of laundry with only 8 ounces! You can also do away with your regular fabrics softeners because Extreme 18 liquid softens your clothing naturally.

Besides giving you wonderfully clean laundry Extreme 18 liquid soap nuts can also be used in your everyday household cleaning.

Here is some of the other uses you can try:

For Household Cleaning: Pour soap nuts liquid into a spray bottle. Use full strength or dilute as desired. Use for sinks, counters, floors, etc.

For Windows and Glass: Fill a spray bottle with about 8 oz of water. Add a half-ounce of soap nuts liquid and a half-ounce of vinegar. Spray and then wipe clean with dry cloth.

For Dishwashers: Fill the dishwasher soap dispenser with soap nuts liquid. Wash as usual. Tip: For extra sparkle, add a half-ounce of vinegar to the rinse dispenser or during the rinse cycle.

For Hand Wash: Add about 2 tbs of soap nuts liquid to wash water and stir, or make a tea with your soap nuts muslin bag. Simply hand wash as usual.

For Steam Cleaning Carpets: Soap nuts work
exceptionally well in carpet cleaners because they are so low sudsing and odor reducing. Add about a quarter cup of soap nut liquid to hot water in the portable cleaner. Great for urine stains!

For Jewelry: Soak jewelry in soap nuts liquid for a few minutes. Use an old soft toothbrush to remove debris. Rinse with clean water and polish with a soft cloth. Soap nuts have been used as a fantastic jewelry cleaner for eons. There's no need for harsh, toxic chemicals!

For Pets: Same as above. Superb for pets! Your little loved ones will never feel and smell this fresh again! They'll appreciate it, too!

For Shampoo: Use soap nuts liquid to shampoo hair. Leave in for about 5 minutes. Rinse as usual with warm water. If you prefer more suds, add a little your favorite shampoo. We know it's hard not to want more suds.

NaturOli Extreme 18 Liquid is the winner of the prestigious Green Dot Award and received the lowest hazard rating on the SkinDeep Cosmetic Saftey Database. With Extreme 18 you can clean with confidence and know your family is safe!

Buy It: Right now at NaturOli you can buy Extreme 18 liquid soap nuts on sale at 50% off! Shop now before this wonderful opportunity passes you by. Shop here.

Chicken and Wild Rice Recipe

2.17.2010

My mother in law made this while we were in Washington. I was so impressed because the chicken cooked so perfectly and it sounded so very easy to make. I always find great deals on chicken drumsticks at the store but usually pass them up because I never seem to cook them just right.

Yesterday I made this recipe for dinner. Well, actually it is so easy to make that I let my two oldest children make it!!! They had a blast, it turned out perfect just as it was in Washington and it made a ton! We got two full meals out of it and still have enough leftovers for two us for lunch tomorrow. Of course, I did double the recipe!

Chicken and Wild Rice

  • Chicken Drumsticks ( 8 for single batch, I used 14 for a double)
  • 1 Package Uncle Ben's Wild Rice ( I used 2 packages Rice Pilaf Mix)
  • 1/2 cup White or Brown Rice (Dry)
  • 3 cans creamed soups ( I used 4 cans for a double batch and used Cream of Mushroom, Celery, Chicken , and then Cheese soup)
In a baking pan pour wild rice and seasoning packet. Add the dry White or Brown rice. Spread evenly in pan. Next, spoon globs of soup onto rice (I dropped a variety of spoonfuls all around). Do not mix soups, it is nice to have a little variety in taste. It will blend in somewhat on it's own. After adding soup you then add in 3/4 can of water per soup ( For a larger batch as I made add in 4 full cans of water). Top with chicken. Bake covered at 275 degrees for 4 hours. During the last 30 minutes uncover to brown chicken.

That's it! So easy and it cooks up perfect. Would be a great crockpot recipe I am sure. I love that you can put it in the oven and forget it for 4 hours. Very convenient on those days when you need to get dinner in the oven before you leave to run errands.

Sorry Everyone

For some odd reason all day today I thought it was Wednesday. Then I went to my calender to see what I had this afternoon and it dawned on me. It also hit me that I completely missed posting my Fluff Talk Thursdays post!!

My 9 year old son has had state testing for school this week and we have had entirely too much going on. I am sorry, I totally blew it. I will post it next Thursday instead.

Washington State Trip- Day 1

After a long 4 hour drive we finally arrived at the Denver International Airport. We parked our van in one of the airports overnight parking lots, took a shuttle bus, went on their underground subway, took an elevator, walked around aimlessly trying to find where we check our baggage and then finally got checked in. We did this with 4 kids, pushing 2 strollers, carrying 3 car seats, hauling 4 suitcases, a bunch of coats and a very full diaper bag!!! Do I recommend air travel with 4 kids?? Not really. :-)

All pictures taken 1.30.10

Arriving at DIA

Waiting for the plane

Finally aboard

By the way- This was all my children's first time to fly (Except Baby E) and our first time as a family taking an airplane.

We arrived in Portland, Oregon that evening after a 2 hour flight. My husband's mom and brother picked us all up and we then drove 1 1/2 hours to their home in Washington. We made it safe and sound and it was good to see his family once again.

Big Baby Little Baby

Yesterday I got out an outfit to put on Baby J and realized that Baby E wore this same outfit at 9 months!!! Baby J is only 3 months and it fit him just fine. He is getting SO big!

I'm Back!

Hello Everyone...

I am back! We arrived home yesterday morning at 2:30 am. Needless to say we are all exhausted from the trip. There is much to catch up on including sleep!

We had a wonderful trip and I can't wait to share with you the details and some of the great photos I took. It was so nice to have the time with family. We even had two big milestones happen along the way. Baby J laughed for the first time (at his Grandpa) and Baby E took his first steps (to his Grandparents). It was very special.

I will be working on getting my blog updated as well as getting the Kolcraft mattress giveaway wrapped up and announced (I just now finished publishing the last of the entries). Please be patient with me as I am a bit on overload at the moment. I also have a ton of Homeschool stuff to do this week as my 9 year old has state testing this week.

Keep checking back as I have much to share with you!
