Joy's of Homemaking- Xtrema Ceramic Cookware 10" Open Fry Pan Review and Giveaway!

*THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED*

My families health is very important to me. Over the past few years I have learned so much about the everyday products we use and how harmful some of them can be. Everyday we eat, this is a fact. What we are eating and what we are preparing our food in is vital to our health. I am excited to share with you the amazing features of Xtrema cookware by Ceramcor.

Xtrema cookware is not like any other cookware you have tried. It can withstand heat up to 2,700 degrees! It can be used in the Oven, Stovetop, Broiler, Freezer, Barbeque Grill, Microwave Oven, and Dishwasher! It cannot be scratched even by Metal Utensils and Industrial Steel Wool! Did I mention that Xtrema cookware is also 100% healthy?

Here are some of the benefits:
  • All Xtrema cookware materials are inorganic natural minerals from our earth's crust.
  • The kilns used for manufacturing use clean burning and safe natural gas.
  • The non-scratch ceramic cooking surface on the Xtrema cookware is non-reactive and 100% non-toxic. No odors or gases are ever released during the entire cooking process, even if the cooking temperatures exceed 2500 F.
  • The Xtrema cooking surface contains no harmful PFOA coating and produces no harmful PFOA gas which can occur with most popular non-stick petroleum based coatings.
  • You can cook, serve and store foods in the same Xtrema cookware which will save energy.
  • The Xtrema ceramic material retains heat longer which will you’re your food warmer longer when brought to the table.
My Xtrema Experience:

I was sent the 10" open skillet for review. I love how sturdy and deep this pan is. Such a great size for my everyday cooking. I have been using it for just about everything...eggs and fried potatoes for breakfast, grilled cheese for lunch, oven baked corn bread with dinner, etc, etc. The versatility of this pan is AWESOME! I haven't tried it out on the BBQ grill yet, but isn't it great that I can use it on the grill?

I love the smooth, black, glossy finish. My food has cooked up nice and evenly each time I have used this skillet. Another great feature is the food stays warm longer at the dinner table due to the ceramic materials the skillet is made from.

Another favorite feature of mine is how easily my skillet cleans up. The skillet looks brand new every time I wash it! If ever you have stuck on food, you can always use regular household cleaning agents (like ajax) and they will not damage your Xtrema cookware!

The most impressive feature that still has me in awe is how Xtrema healthy cookware can withstand temperatures over 2,000 degrees! Watch this video to see for yourself....

Last but not least...I am thoroughly impressed by the warranty that comes with Xtrema cookware. Xtrema offers a 50-Year Warranty!!! This offers free replacement of any ceramic part of your Xtrema product that breaks from hot and cold temperatures within 50 years from date of purchase. How cool is that?

Now, I know you want to own some Xtrema cookware right?

Joy's of Homemaking- Baker's Edge The Brownie Pan for Edge Lover's Review and Giveaway!

*THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED*

I LOVE brownies! Who doesn't? Brownies are one of my most favorite desserts. There is nothing better than a warm chewy brownie and a glass of cold milk after a nice meal. Sometimes baking brownies can be a real challenge though. Brownies typically come out of the oven with rock hard edges and a mushy center.

The Edge Brownie Pan by Baker's Edge was designed by a husband and wife team from Indiana. They created the Edge Brownie Pan with a unique zig-zag design. This design improves baking performance by circulating heat evenly to the pan’s middle, where food typically takes longer to bake. It also adds two chewy edges to every serving! If you are an edge lover...you are going to love this!

My Baker's Edge Experience:

From the moment I first saw the Baker's Edge Brownie Pan online I was intrigued, so I was thrilled to have this opportunity to review one. I didn't expect the Edge Brownie Pan to be as well made as it is. This pan is nice and sturdy! It has a super smooth finish which makes removal of brownies a breeze and also makes clean up simple.

The Edge Brownie Pan is 9" x 12" and made of professional grade, heavy-gauge cast aluminum. It has a durable nonstick coating and round, easy-to-clean corners. The single-chamber design allows the batter to be easily spread. The Edge Brownie Pan comes with a recipe booklet and nylon spatula. The recipe booklet also tells you everything you need to know about caring for your pan as well as warranty information.

I used 1 box of Betty Crocker Cookie Brownie Bars mix in my pan. At first I was worried there wasn't enough mix to cover the bottom of the pan, but indeed there was! The Edge Brownie Pan is made to fit most standard brownie mixes.

I added chocolate chip cookie dough to the top of the brownie mix. Yum!

I baked these brownies for 25 minutes. The box said 35-40 minutes, but I prefer my brownies be a bit moist on the inside. The end result was amazing! The brownies had a nice crisp (not hard) edge, chewy center and flaky top. They were PERFECT! I loved how easily the shape of the Edge Pan allowed for cutting up each portion as well. So nice!

My overall opinion of the Edge Brownie Pan? LOVE it! I am very impressed by the design. I have never had my brownies cook evenly like they did in this pan. I look forward to experimenting with new recipes to try out in the Edge Brownie Pan.

BUY IT:
You can purchase the Edge Brownie pan directly from Baker's Edge website here or from any of these retailers.

WIN IT: Baker's Edge is giving one Happily Domestic reader a Edge Brownie Pan for their very own! $34.95 Value.

Book It Program- Hurry and Enroll Before It's Too Late!

Every school year my children have participated in the Book It Program. Did you know that you qualify for enrollment even if you are a homeschool family? Enrollment ended on June 30th, however on Book It's site it says they are still accepting applications on a first come first serve basis. I just enrolled my kiddos today and am hoping it went through. I completely forgot to enroll them this year! Yikes.

New to Book It? Here is some information about this free program:

About BOOK IT!
BOOK IT! motivates children to read by rewarding their reading accomplishments with praise, recognition and pizza. BOOK IT! is simple for the teacher to use, flexible because goals match reading ability, and fun because achieving a goal is a great reason to celebrate. BOOK IT! was created in 1985 and currently reaches over 10 million students annually.

Simple
BOOK IT! runs every school year from October through March. The teacher sets a reading goal for each child in the class. A tracking chart and reproducibles are included to make it that much easier. As soon as a child meets the monthly reading goal, the teacher gives him or her a Reading Award Certificate.

Flexible
BOOK IT! goals are based on reading ability. Number of books, number of pages, or number of minutes – they all work. BOOK IT! can also be used with the reading curriculum or as support for comprehension or intervention programs. For children not reading independently, the goal can be set where a parent or others read to the child.

Fun
Pizza Hut is proud of all BOOK IT! readers! The restaurant manager and team congratulate every child for meeting the monthly reading goal and reward them with a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza, BOOK IT! card and backpack clip.

Best of all, BOOK IT! materials are free to schools! Click here for enrollment and eligibility information.

Eye Update

Thanks for everyone's prayers for my daughters eye. She saw the ophthalmologist yesterday and the eye seems to be healing well. She no longer need to wear the patch. We will continue with the drops and see the ophthalmologist again later this week to make sure all is well. Already this morning it looks 100% better! Amazing how fast our bodies can heal!

Joovy- Nook Highchair Review!

I LOVE the products Joovy has to offer! Joovy is an American family gear company offering extraordinary quality with great value for today's parents. Joovy's line of products includes strollers, play yards, toys, and high chairs. Joovy products are made with a unique, stylish appeal and excellent functionality.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to try out Joovy's new Nook highchair! The Nook highchair comes fully assembled which was a big plus when it arrived at my home. Right away I was impressed by the design. The Nook is a full size highchair but is designed for compact storage. This is wonderful for those of us who have cramped dining space. My first thought when seeing how compact the Nook folds down is that it would be an awesome highchair for Churches. Our Church could store 4 Nook highchairs in less space then 1 of their current full size highchairs! Then I thought about Grandparents...what a great highchair to have at Grandma and Grandpas house! They could store the Nook in the coat closet and not lose much space.

The Nook highchair when folded is only 28" long, 24" wide, and 9.5 inches thick! It folds nice and flat. Simply push the sliding button to the side, lift the handle and the whole highchair folds to a compact state, tray and all! Literally takes no effort at all to do this! To open, you pull the handle up and the Nook highchair opens almost on it's own. So easy!

Other great features of the Joovy Nook Highchair:
  • Swing Open Tray- Swing open tray opens with one hand. Tray has a dishwasher safe tray insert. The tray is also removable.
  • Top the line Leatherette or Fabric Seat- Removable, wipeable, black or white leatherette or removable, washable orange or green fabric seat.
  • 5 Point Harness- Wipeable and safe 5-point harness with height adjustment.
  • Compact Folding- Super easy, one hand fold that is very flat and compact.
  • Underside Handle- Easily transport!
  • Light Weight- Only 15 pounds!

The Nook Highchair is great for:
  • Families
  • Grandparents
  • Churches
  • Daycares
  • Travel
I am loving the Nook highchair! I love the portability of the chair and all the cool features. My son fits nicely in the highchair. It is nice knowing he is safe and secure with the 5 point harness. I love the soft comfy leatherette seat that is easy to wipe clean! I know you will love the Joovy Nook Highchair as well. You can purchase for only $129 from Joovy's online store (free USA shipping too!) or from any of their retailers, click here.

Connect with Joovy on Facebook and Twitter

Please Bear With Me

I just wanted to give an update since I have been absent from my blog for a few days. We had a series of events around my home that have prevented me from being able to work on my blog. First off, on Friday I accidentally poked my daughter in the eyes with the broom (long story). Well, I thought she just had dirt in her eye and we flushed it out several times. Later her eye was still hurting real bad and so we took her into the doctor. She has a tear in her cornea. Since she rubbed her eye it caused it to tear further. We are giving her antibiotic drops in the eye and they put a patch over her eye. She went back to the doctor today and he recommended she visit a pediatric ophthalmologist. We go this afternoon and then she is suppose to follow up with the pediatrician tomorrow afternoon!

So....as you can see there has been a lot going on. On top of this we were suppose to be throwing a big end of summer get together (a Teddy Bear Picnic) today. We canceled and it will now be next Sunday. We also start school in 1 week. I have a VERY busy week ahead of me with school preparations. Anyway, wanted you all to know I still have several great reviews and giveaways to wrap up my homemaking event, but the event will probably not end until the first week in September. I will try and post at least 2 for you this week though. Please be patient with me as this will be a very busy and stressful week.

Thanks,
Beth

Joy's of Homemaking- Eden Home Organic Table Linens Review!

Have you gone green? Have you been doing your part to ensure you leave a healthy planet for future generations? If you are striving for a healthier environment for your family then you will love what you find at Eden Home! They have taken the blah out of organic and recycled products and offer a whole line of stylish and fun organic, all-natural and eco-friendly products for the home, baby, kids, and more!

About Eden Home:
(from their site)
Many of the so-called "organic" and "natural" products sold today are either not pure or not beautiful. So we started Eden Home to offer healthy choices ranging from organic clothes for baby to natural bath towels, from organic cookware to all natural shampoos.

Organic foods are common place, organic cotton is en vogue. But what happens to cotton and other ingredients after they're harvested matters too. Many chemicals are introduced during the manufacturing of everyday products like clothes and soaps. Those chemicals come into contact with your skin when you dress, bathe or sleep.

Most people don't realize how clothing is processed and finished. As many as 2000 different chemicals are used in the textile industry! Those chemicals are left on clothing then transferred to you or your baby when absorbed through the skin.

The Garden of Eden was created to be lovely and beautiful, perfect and pure.

That's why we started Eden Home: to offer natural home products that are as organic and pure as can be because they are produced as naturally as can be. But we have an eye on the luxury and visual appeal of our products too. The purity is possible without losing the beauty, whether you're shopping for organic clothes for baby, natural bath towels or organic cookware.

Eden Home was founded by two working moms who know what they like. Our natural products are classic in style, luxurious in feel, and delightful to smell or caress. Even our all-natural shampoos. Our founders' taste is apparent throughout the site, appealing to busy mothers who want to make organic choices for their families without sacrificing comfort or looks.

Eden Home offers the most comprehensive selection of natural home products, and we continually expand our selection to maintain our position as the leader in natural luxury. Browse our selection of organic clothes for baby or organic cookware, or dress up your bath with natural bath towels. If it's organic and stylish, you'll find it at Eden Home.

My Experience:

I was delighted to have the opportunity to review a couple of products from Eden Home. I was sent their organic table cloth (red dot design) with 4 coordinating organic cloth napkins (red leaves design). Both of these table linens are by Clover Organic and made from 7 oz. organic cotton twill that is block-printed by hand.

The organic cotton in Plover's linens comes from non-genetically engineered seeds grown in soil that is free of pesticides, herbicides or other cytotoxins. Cotton is among one of the most chemically treated crops! This is why buying organic cotton is so important especially when it comes to items your family uses on a daily basis.

Plover table linens also are made using a hydrogen peroxide bleaching process and only low-impact, fiber reactive dyes. These dyes form a strong bond with the cotton fiber and have excellent colorfastness, but contain no heavy metals.

I love the quality of these linens. They are nice and thick. I can tell they will last my family many, many years. I also love the rich colors. The tablecloth and napkins look stunning together and make my dining area beautiful!

You can sign up for Eden Home's email newsletter. You will receive a 15% discount, plus hear about new products, exclusive promos, organic living tips & more!

Connect with Eden Home on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest promotions and product updates as well!

Thank you to Eden Home who provided me with the table linens for review free of charge. All opinions are my own and no other compensation was received to conduct this review.

Joy's of Homemaking- Wilton UltraGold Bakeware Review and Giveaway!

*THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED*
If you are a homemaker then you have probably owned and used various items from Wilton. Wilton is the industry leader in cake decorating, quality bakeware and food crafting. It has been helping people make delicious creations for their families since 1929!

I love all the information Wilton offers on their website. Whether you are a newbie or seasoned veteran of food crafting you will find all sorts of ideas and advice to help with your next project. Wilton offers a decorating 101 on their site that will teach you just about everything you need to know about cake decorating. They also have an Idea Finder to help inspire your next project! Such a fun site, I highly recommend checking it out.

I am happy to have had the chance to work with the great people at Wilton on a review of their new line of bakeware. The UltraGold bakeware was designed with features that provide the perfect baking results decorators demand. With 80 years experience under their belts, Wilton has created the perfect baking pans!

UltraGold Bakeware Features:

Premium Aluminum
Every Wilton Ultra Gold pan is hand-crafted to ensure a perfect shape and better baking results for you.

Even Heating – Won’t Warp
UltraGold heats more evenly and holds its shape like no other brand. Our premium aluminum distributes heat evenly for a light, golden brown cake surface that is ideal for decorating.

Durable Anodized Surface
Anodizing creates a more consistent surface finish. This means that UltraGold’s signature golden finish will look great and bake beautifully for years to come.

Oversized Handles for Easy Lifting
Convenient extended handles help you lift the UltraGold pan safely and easily. Pan dimensions are stamped on the handles.

Available Sizes:

  • 9×13 and 11×15 Sheet Cake
  • 11×17 Jelly Roll
  • 8", 10", 12" Round
  • 8" and 10" Square

My Experience:

I was sent a few pieces of the various sized UltraGold bakeware pans. Right away I could tell these pans were superior in quality. They have a super smooth finish and are nice and sturdy. I love that the pan sizes are labeled on the handles. This helps ensure you are using the right size pan every time!

My pans arrived just in time for my oldest sons 10th birthday. My son was excited that mom would be baking his cake this year. I let him choose the cake he wanted out of a party book we own. He chose the Critter Cake much to my dismay. This would not have been my choice, but he is a boy so I can understand why he likes it. ;-)

This was my first experience creating a double layer cake. I must say I was a bit nervous about putting it together, but there was no need to worry. The cakes baked up beautifully in the UltraGold pans ! After baking I let the cakes cool a bit and then took them out of the pans. The cakes came right out with no effort on my end. So easy! This was a huge relief. I was completely impressed!

Everything from the baking to decorating went perfectly and the end result was one buggy birthday cake! My son loved it!

I look forward to making many more wonderful creations for my family with the UltraGold pans! Thank you Wilton!
