Oh Katy Cloth Diaper Review & Giveaway!

Recently my husband and I made the decision to switch over to cloth diapers, so I was excited when Katie Garner from Oh Katy provided me with 4 of her diapers to review. Oh Katy makes fabulous One-Size Pocket Diapers made to fit your baby from 8 to 35 lbs. Each comes with 2 inserts, one full size adjustable and one newborn. The newborn insert can also be used as a doubler as your child grows. You have 9 vibrant colors to choose from when ordering your diapers. My husband decided he wanted in on the fun and picked out the Green Apple, Cherry, Twilight and Melon diapers for our son.

After opening up the diaper's the first thing I noticed was how incredibly soft they were! They have a microfleece inner that is not only soft against baby's skin, but also helps keep it dry after they have wet.

Having never used cloth diapers before, I was a little unsure of how our first experience would go. I am happy to report that the Oh Katy diaper's were a breeze. I had no trouble getting the diaper on correctly. There are hip snaps to help give you a snug fit around the legs, as well as the standard 3 snap rise to help you get the perfect fit for your child. I also really liked the elastic in the back, I didn't have any "blow outs", something that was becoming a huge problem with disposables.

My son is an extreme heavy wetter so I was excited to see how well these diaper's held up to his plentiful peeing. No leaks! Not even overnight. When I checked my son in the morning, the outside of his diaper was dry and so was his skin. I am thoroughly impressed! You will also notice in all these pictures how incredibly trim these diapers are. Just another success in the Oh Katy design. Overall, Oh Katy diapers get 2 thumbs up from me!

Wordless Wednesday- Big Boy Bed!

Little E is finally in a toddler bed!!! I know, he probably should have been in one a year ago but he is so tiny it worked to have him in a crib. He loves his new "Big Boy Bed". He actually has been doing real good about staying in bed when he is suppose to. He will even take a nap in his bed without getting up (something my other 2 children NEVER could do). My little man in growing up! By the way- the boys room is finally finished and they are all moved in. I will take pictures of the room once I get the curtains hung and a few finishing touches added. They have been enjoying sharing a room together.

Sorry for the dark pictures, they are un-edited as I had to load them on our notebook computer.

Computer Crashed!

Our computer crashed 2 days ago!! I am so upset. It is less than 1 year old and so under warranty, but they say they cannot guarantee saving our information. ALL our pictures from the previous year are on there!!! We are trying desperately to save them before we send it off to be repaired. In the meantime, I am having to use our little notebook computer which I hate.

I promise to get the swing set giveaway closed up soon. The program I use to grab the screen shots is on the crashed computer, so I may not be able to have that for you. I hope this is okay. It may be a few weeks before we get our computer back. :-( Thanks in advance for your patience.

My Experience:

I was sent the Aloha style swimsuit in a deep purple and turquoise Hawaiian print for my 9 year old daughter. I first have to say that I was amazed at the speed of the whole process. Lisa had the swimsuit sewn, shipped and in my hands within about a week and a half!! Awesome customer service! I can't express enough how pleased I am with my overall experience. My daughter's swimsuit fits great, is absolutely adorable and I love the quality! Very nicely made.

Swim top is double layered for extra coverage, with a 3rd layer over the chest. This is nice for little girls who are starting to develop. Woman's suits can be made with built in bra to give you the coverage and support you want to feel comfortable.

The swim shorts fit like a lot like bike shorts. Short length can be made to what you desire. You can have your shorts hidden under the top, above knee, or made like capri leggings.

Having more coverage with your swimwear does not mean giving up style or comfort. These suits are lightweight, breathable and every bit as comfortable to swim in as an ordinary swimsuit. The only difference is you do not have to worry about covering up extra body weight (because it's covered) or having your private areas being exposed!

A few changes at Happily Domestic (and an update)

Hi everyone! It has been a quiet week around here and I apologize for that. My whole family has been sick this past week. Not fun, especially since we barely started our summer break. As most of you know we homeschool our 2 older children. The end of the year can be a bit stressful finishing up all our work. We made it though and I am so proud of my children! They worked hard this year.

As a stay at home mom, homeschool teacher, and mother to 4 kiddos (under age 10) I am realizing more and more the importance of bringing order and peace in my home. I have a very important job that requires my full attention and lots of diligence. I love blogging and am amazed to see how my blog has grown over the past 2 years. Quite frankly, it has succeeded far beyond what I had ever hoped for! It has been a blessing in so many ways, but has also caused a lot of extra "work" for this busy mama.

I do not want to give up my blog at all, but a need to cut back on the time I personally work on it is a must. Realizing this, I have decided to add contributors to my blog. I have added one already and you can read all about her here. I am still trying to convince several of my friends that they need to join in. They have so many talents we could all benefit from. In the meantime, I am happy to add Brittney Thompson. She is an amazingly strong woman, loves the Lord, and has many gifts and talents including being an awesome cook! Hopefully she will be sharing lot's of yummy recipes with us all. I am also very excited about this because Brittney is a new mom and will be giving you lots of opportunities to win some great baby giveaways!!! You all love that, right?

I think adding a few of my friends as contributors will give me the relief I need to stay focused on my family and not feel overwhelmed by my blog. It will keep things fresh and add some new perspective. I hope you all will be happy with the changes. Please email me if you have any concerns.

Chicken Teriyaki Burgers Recipe! by guest blogger Brittney

One of my favorite things about summer is eating BBQ. Usually we have burgers, hot dogs, brats or steaks with all the other traditional BBQ foods. Sometimes though, I feel the need to mix it up. Step outside of the norm if you will! It was on one of those days that this recipe materialized and quickly became one of my favorite BBQ foods. I promise you no one will be disappointed and your friends and family will be amazed by your creativity. Enjoy!



Chicken Teriyaki Burgers

1 pound ground chicken
1 bottle of SoyVey Teriyaki Sauce, or whatever brand you prefer
Fresh Pineapple, sliced in rounds
Tomatoes
Spinach
Onion, sliced
3 Garlic cloves, minced
Soy Sauce
Salt and Pepper
Your favorite buns


Put ground chicken into a mixing bowl with minced garlic, about 1 tbs of soy sauce, just enough to lightly flavor your meat and add a couple shakes of salt and pepper. Let this sit, covered in the fridge for 20 minutes. Slice onions and pineapple, set aside. Take meat out of your fridge and form it into patties. I like a good sized patty and normally get 4 patties from 1 pound of meat. Brush teriyaki sauce onto both sides of your burgers, stick on grill for 5-7 minutes per side, depending on the temperature. While those are cooking, immediately begin caramelizing your onions on medium heat. When you flip your patties, brush again with teriyaki. The last 3 minutes put your pineapple on the grill. If you want, brush that also with teriyaki but it's not necessary.

When the meat is done, assemble these delicious burgers with your pineapple, onions, fresh tomatoes and spinach. DELICIOUS!

I absolutely love these burgers! They are different, tasty, EASY and sure to please even picky eaters! :)

Hit about 3 real good yard sales last weekend and scored! Here is what I bought...

7 woman's shirts and 5 woman's tank tops

6 boys sweaters

12 boys short sleeve shirts

8 boys 2-piece pajamas

16 pair boys pants

36 long sleeve boy shirts

5 boys jumper outfits, 5 pair boys shorts, and 1 pair swim trunks

Diaper stacker, 2 sweat shirt jackets, 1 baby girl dress, 1 pair boys overalls, 1 boy tank top, 5 pair girl's leggings, 3 bibs, 1 pair socks, and a new full bottle of California Baby Diaper Wash.

All this for $20.00

That is 118 items which equals 17 cents per item!! Not bad, eh?? :-) I love yard sales! Most all the boy clothes were sizes 2 and 3 toddler, which is exactly what my boys will wear in this coming fall and winter. I won't really have to buy them anything! Such a huge blessing.
