It's that time of year again! Lots of warmth, lots of outdoor time and lots of time in the water! This will be my first time being pregnant in late spring and summer and I was feeling a little uneasy about finding a swimsuit. I wanted something cute and modest, but I also wanted something practical. I wanted to be able to relax in the pool and not have to worry about my bottoms riding up or down. After much searching I finally found an Etsy shop called Creations By Savannah. Among the beautiful costuming and other cute clothes, I was drawn to her modest maternity swimsuits. I was quite pleased to find a swimsuit that seemed to meet all of my needs.
I was particularly drawn to the bottoms. I really didn't want the standard bikini bottom (which was all I had been able to find up till now) for a couple of reasons. First, I would be extremely self conscious having that much leg and tush showing. Second, it would have been magnified by the fact that when you are at your bigger pregnancy size everything either rides up or down. Who wants to worry about that? The swimsuit bottoms have a full maternity panel, a mid-thigh skirt and shorts that come down a few inches below that (this is all one piece). Lots of coverage offering you the sound of mind you need to just chill out in the water.
The other thing I wanted was a 2 piece that was modest but also form fitted to my "bump". I tend to feel very uncomfortable when I have a lot of fabric moving around me while I am in the water and this will only be exacerbated while pregnant. The top I chose has ruching on the sides, 1 1/2 inch wide straps and comes up high enough on your chest that you don't need to worry about, ahem, falling out. The ruching will let out as your belly grows ensuring that you are able to wear it through to the end. I am 18 weeks right now and am positive I will continue to fit into this suit until I have our newest little one in August.
Each suit is custom made to your measurements so you don't need to worry about it not fitting. Along with the ruched top, there is also an empire style maternity swimsuit available. For those of you who have little girlies who need something to swim in, Savannah also makes modest swimwear for girls as well as non maternity suits for women. Overall I am very happy with my new suit! I am looking forward to many more days spend lounging at the pool in my modest, comfortable and cute swimsuit. A must have for any mom looking for something pretty with a little more coverage!
