Oh Baby! Extravaganza- Prodigy Infant Car Seat by Summer Infant Review and Giveaway!

Prodigy Infant Car Seat- Uptown Fashion

With baby #5 about to make his arrival it is time for a new infant car seat.  I was so pleased when Summer Infant agreed to take part of our Oh Baby! Extravaganza with a review of their Prodigy Infant Car Seat in Uptown Fashion.  I was particularly intrigued by this car seat as it has many safety features I have never before seen on any other infant car seat.  Let me tell you about them.

Easy to install with smiley faces to show completion.

First of all the most impressive part of this whole car seat system is the base.  With Smart Screen Technology you no longer have to guess whether or not your car seat base is installed properly!  With a light up digital display to guide you through every step of installation there is no worries about doing anything wrong.  As you can see from my picture above the first step is clicking the latch connectors into your vehicles's lower anchor bars.  Once you do this and base is level the first smiley face will appear.

Belt Tightening Handle gets that base nice in snug in seconds!

After leveling the base it is time to tighten the belt.  Here we find another awesome time saving invention with the Belt Tightening Handle!  Simply pull level back and forth until the 2nd smiley face appears showing you installation is complete.  That's it, very easy!

They say 7 out of every 10 car seats are installed incorrectly.  This is startling considering how many children's lives are at risk because of this.  Babies are the most vulnerable in car crashes, we need to be especially careful when installing their seats.

Prodigy Infant Car Seat Properly Installed

Besides being one of the safest infant car seats on the market, the Prodigy car seat itself is quality made and built to last. I was thoroughly impressed by the fabric on this car seat. It is made with nice heavy weight fabric on the seat exterior and soft velvety fabric in the interior. This allows baby to be nice and comfortable. I also love the soft grey and cream colors of the Uptown Fashion design. Simple yet classy and not to babyish. I don't know about you, but I am all about keeping my baby gear classic. I don't like a whole lot of bright colors, animals or cartoon characters. 

The infant head support is great for babies up to 11 pounds!

The Prodigy even comes with coordinating infant support cushions- a pillow like head support, shoulder pads, and a body insert to lift and support smaller babies.  All 3 of these infant cushions can be separated and removed as your baby grows.  Very handy! They are also machine washable which is great for those babies who spit up a lot.

The Prodigy fits babies from 4-32 pounds and up to 32 inches in length.  It contains a 5 point harness with SafeGuard one-adjust.  This feature allows you to secure your baby in the seat simply by pulling one strap.  The harness conforms to your baby’s body for a snug fit, and you will never have to re-thread any straps.

The shade canopy and handle are also adjustable allowing you to have full view of baby when needed.  So many great features in one little car seat, I am thoroughly impressed!  It is good to know my new little son will be safe and secure in the Prodigy.  I can't wait to bring him home from the hospital in this wonderful car seat!
