Squatty Potty - A Review and Giveaway!

Are you ready for some potty talk? It's noones favorite subject, but it is a vital part of our bodies health and well being! I heard about the Squatty Potty after seeing an ad on a blog I frequent. I thought maybe it had to do with potty training and wanted to check it out. I was amazed by what I found! For all of time time humans have squatted to eliminate. Up until modern civilization and the toilet was invented. You are probably wondering what the big deal is, after all, it is much more comfortable! Take a look at this picture from the Squatty Potty website:

Anorectal Angle
As you can see, the muscle that maintains continence is not fully relaxed in the sitting position. This increases the difficulty you might experience while going to the bathroom. This can cause or exasserbate problems like hemmoroids, constipation and colon disease! Oddly enough, we had a drastic increase in these occurances when the toilet was introduced! Coincindence? I think not! And really who wouldn't want to get rid of hemmoroids,
relieve constipation , solve pelvic floor issues or even just have an easier time going to the bathroom ???

So what exactly is the Squatty Potty? When I tried to first explain it to my husband he immediately said "We're not buying so weirdo toilet that we have to explain to our friends every time they come over! Nope!" My husband is used to my "crazy" discoveries that I like to implement in our home. This though, was just to out there, even for me, he thought. Well, let me assure you this is nothing you will need to be embarrassed about! It is an unassuming little stool you set under your toilet that helps you attain a squatting position while eliminating.

Squatty Potty Eco
I hope at this point you are thinking that all of this really makes sense, but maybe you aren't quite convinced yet? I can hopefully help with that. Squatty Potty was kind enough to send me 2 Squatty Potties, a 9 inch for my 6ft husband and a 7 inch for 5ft 1.5in me. I have been using the squatty potty stool for about 2 weeks now and at first I didn't see a big difference. I just felt a little silly squatting on my toilet to be honest! Then I started noticing that my stomach was feeling a bit better, I wasn't as bloated as I normally am. I also noticed my trips to the bathroom were a bit quicker and.. well... less uncomfortable. My husband has said the same and I can assure you he spends much less time in there too! If you are worried that you need multiple stools, dont be! The 9inch was way to high for my husband (6ft) and quite comfortable for me, however I am still able to very comfortably use the 7inch.

Despite the embarrassing and unpleasant feeling we get when talking about our bathroom business, there is no denying how important it is. Your colon works to eliminate toxins from your lymph nodes, blood and intestines. It has a vitally important job and it's our job to do what we can to keep it working efficiently. One step towards a healthier colon and a healthier life is the Sqatty Potty!

I learned that assuming the squat position is the natural way to achieve easier and more complete elimination.

Using the squatty potty provides a stable platform to elevate the feet and legs, allowing greater hip flexion and straightening out the anorectal angle kink.

I learned how the body is aligned inside and the stool helps line things up for easier elimination.

Very interesting! I didn't know that when sitting, everything is bent and basically kinks up your bowel, making it more difficult to go to the bathroom.

I learned that it is easier to get it all out when in a squatting position rather than just sitting. I guess I subconsciously knew that because I am usually on my tippy toes while going to the bathroom but this would be a wonderful and helpful thing to have!
