Blankets, Books and Bedtime! Night, Night Baby!

Starting this month I am an official blogger for Funshine Express!  I am so excited about this opportunity and look forward to documenting our learning adventures using their Buttercups curriculum.  I will also be sharing various crafts from their Monthly Art Packs.  If you are unfamiliar with Funshine Express and the various curriculum kits they offer, you can read more about them at their website: www.funshineexpress.com.  Also, if you missed my comprehensive review of their Buttercups curriculum last month you can find it here.

Okay, let's get started....

Each Buttercups curriculum kit includes 2 full months of lessons for babies and toddlers and covers two themes per month.  The curriculum guide contains a wide variety of ideas on how to incorporate those themes into your lesson plans as well as your daily activities.

Themes for November:

Night, Night
Thank You Time

This week we are learning all about bedtime.  The soft blanket you see in my son's hand came in this months kit.  It's so soft and Baby "N" has been having fun carrying it around with him.

Pointing at the blanket vocabulary card.  Not sure if he cared so much about the blanket
in the picture as he did the baby.  He kept saying, "baby, baby!"  Very cute!

This months puppet is Tom the Turkey!  Tom is here to sing songs and help make learning fun.  We introduced Tom with a little song that goes like this:

Sung to "I'm a Little Teapot"

Tom's a friendly turkey; he's such fun.
He likes to play with everyone.
He likes to play outdoors and inside too.
He wants to be a friend to you.

Love those baby blues hiding behind Tom!

Since on the topic of bedtime, I pulled out one of the books we own on sleep.  This book did not come in the buttercups kit but is a nice little book for toddlers.  It covers all the aspects of going to bed from bedtime snack, bath time, and bedtime routine.  It contains real life pictures with words to describe each item.  Baby "N" thoroughly enjoyed it and it tied in well with the theme.

For craft time Baby "N" made a paper blanket!  He loves painting and jumped right in with great enthusiasm. For this particular craft we used watered down paints for more of a water color effect. However, his paper got covered very fast and I thought it was going to be world war 3 when I tried taking it away!

After the painting dried Baby "N" got to glue on the finishing touches...little fabric squares and ribbon!

Sleep, Tight, Teddy! is this months board book included in the Buttercups kit.  So very cute!  The attached teddy bear puppet head is a lot of fun for baby.

My son enjoyed this book so much and had me read it several times.  Here he is on my lap.

MONTHLY ART PACK

New to Funshine Express is their Monthly Art Packs!  Don't need a whole box of curriculum but want some extra crafts to keep your little ones busy on these blustery fall days?  Funshine Express has taken their 8 favorite art projects from the Fireflies kit and packaged them for 4 children. The Art Pack will include projects from each of the two monthly themes and is only $19.99!

Working on their teddy bear faces.

My boys LOVE arts and crafts!  In fact, I don't think a day goes by where these boys don't make some type of little project.  I knew right off the Monthly Art Pack was something we needed.  I appreciate how each art project comes with all materials and detailed instructions.  I am a busy mom and don't always have the energy to think of new craft ideas to keep my kids happy. With the Monthly Art Pack we can be sure to have a nice variety of crafts each month and even better they are all delivered to our door!

The first art project the boys tried is called Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear and is a cute little
teddy bear face.  Here is Little "E" cutting out the ears.

A little while later the boys decided their bear heads needed bodies. *:) happy

So far it's been a fun week!  I am looking forward to the rest of this month's activities.  Stay tuned as I will be sharing more in a few days.
